Background

Deans Pharmacy, located in the heart of Wishaw, recognised the need to modernise and expand its existing facilities to enhance customer experience and streamline operations. To achieve this transformation, Deans Pharmacy appointed Retail Design Consultants (RDC) to undertake a comprehensive scope of work, which included building works, shop fit-out, front shop design, and the integration of advanced automation technologies. 

Project Scope: 

RDC was entrusted with a multifaceted project encompassing the following key elements: 

1.Building Works and Full Shop Fit-Out: 

RDC embarked on a project to extend the existing pharmacy into an adjacent unit. This expansion was critical to accommodate the growing demand for community pharmacy services and products. The extensive building works involved structural modifications, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and creating a seamless integration of the additional space into the existing premises. The full shop fit-out included designing and furnishing the expanded area, ensuring a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing environment.

2. Client-Specific Front Shop Design:

RDC’s creative team collaborated closely with their client to create a client-specific front shop design. The goal was to create an inviting and customer-centric space that aligned with the pharmacy’s brand identity and values. Particular attention was given to optimising the layout for efficient customer flow and product accessibility. The design incorporated distinctive features, including one-to-one customer interaction pods, enhancing the overall shopping experience. 

3. Coordination of Works for Pharmaself24 and VBM Robots:

RDC was tasked with coordinating the installation and integration of cutting-edge technologies. This included the Pharmaself24 automated dispensing system and VBM robots for prescription preparation. RDC’s design team ensured that these advanced systems seamlessly fitted into the newly expanded space.

Through consistent collaboration with their client, Retail Design Consultants transformed a  traditional healthcare facility into a modern, customer-centric, and technologically advanced pharmacy. Through innovative design, strategic planning, and seamless execution, RDC’s scope of work has not only met but exceeded the objectives set by the client. The revitalised pharmacy now stands as a beacon of excellent community pharmacy, showcasing the value of effective retail design and pharmacy automation in the contemporary healthcare landscape.
